What are the greatest needs?
Food:
With food prices continuing to rise, the need to provide food to area families has significantly increased. Reductions in assistance programs such as SNAP have further strained many households. CCH makes referrals to area pantries, but the number of families seeking assistance continues to rise.Housing:
Rental costs in Hancock County have increased substantially, and affordable housing is difficult to find. CCH works in collaboration with long-term housing programs such as Hope House, Metro Housing, Senior Towers, and local landlords to help residents remain in their homes.Utilities:
With ongoing increases in utility costs, many families struggle to keep their lights, heat, and water on. CCH works with the local Community Action Commission and other utility programs to ensure families can maintain these essential services.CCH helps in many other areas, which may include but are not limited to:
-
Gasoline
-
Birth certificates
-
IDs/Driver’s licenses
-
Prescriptions, medical equipment, and eyeglasses
-
Car repairs or insurance
-
Furniture and appliances
If other programs can help, referrals are made. CCH is a true community partner that works to stretch resources. Our goal is to find long-term solutions, helping individuals and families become self-sustaining.
Poverty in Hancock County has increased, and there is so much more we can do. Our only limitation is funding. We need your financial support.
