You Make the Difference
Financial contributions from the community are critical. Client needs continue to increase, and our budget continues to grow. Currently, our budget exceeds more than $600,000 annually (compared to $30,000 in 1995). With your donation, you will have a real and lasting impact on our community.
What are the greatest needs:
Food: With food prices increasing more than 32% in the last two years the need to provide food to area families has significantly increased. 2.2 million dollars have been cut from the Hancock County post Covid with the SNAP program. CCH makes referrals to area pantries but the number of seeking assistance continues to rise.
Housing: Rental costs in Hancock County have risen more than 20% in the past 3 years and affordable housing in Hancock County is difficult to find. CCH works in collaboration with long-term housing programs (Hope House, Metro housing, Senior Towers, income-based housing (Section 8) along with local landlord) to keep area residences in their homes.
Utilities: Utility costs have increased approximately 28% percent in the past three years. CCH works with the local Community Action Commission and other utility programs to keep the lights, heat and water on for families who otherwise would be disconnected.
CCH helps in many other needs which may be but not limited to:
-
- Gasoline
- Birth Certificates
- ID’s/Driver’s license
- Prescriptions/ Medical equipment/ eyeglasses
- Car repairs/ Insurance
- Furniture/ appliances
If other programs can help referrals are made. CCH is a true community partner that works to stretch resources. Our goal is to find long-term solutions, helping the individual/ family to become self-sustaining.
Poverty in Hancock County has increased….the poor will always be with us. There is so much more we can do. Our only limitation is our funding. We need your financial support.
Just imagine how much good can be done with any amount, large or small! We invite you to make a tax-deductible contribution.
Here are some examples of how your dollars are used:
$500 keeps a family’s lights on.
$1,000 feeds 5 families for 5-7 days.
$2,500 keeps 5 families in their home.
$6,000 provides 100 children with a new pair of shoes.
