- All clients needing assistance must come into the HCCH office.
- Clients must bring identification such as a valid driver’s license.
- Clients must also be prepared to show support for their requests for assistance such as a threat to have their utility turned off. Some programs may require additional information.
- Clients must be prepared to discuss their family and financial status.
- Applicants must either be a resident of Hancock County, a member of a participating congregation, or a transient going through the county.
- If other agencies are able to either share a cost or have programs that are available for the client’s needs, HCCH works with these other agencies to more completely give aid.
- HCCH is registered with the 211 emergency assistance telephone number, which refers more clients to HCCH than any other service.
- All 45 churches are encouraged to call the HCCH office if a client visits the church with a request for assistance.
- HCCH maintains a history of client information and a signed release statement to permit informing agencies and churches of HCCH’s relationship with the client.
- HCCH does not discriminate in giving assistance based on any criteria other than that as stated in the operation’s manual. There will be nobody refused assistance due only to race, color, age, gender, or creed.
